“I love the concept of this Extension, first and foremost, thanks for developing it. For some reason custom keybinds don't work for me though. Upon installing it fresh, the preset keybinds work as intended: B is Brush, U is Fill, etc. However, when setting a custom one (e.g. G = Fill), the keybind stops working entirely. Pressing the new keybind (G) doesn't work, and the old one (U) no longer works either.”

Why this is a gap

Surfaced from a high-intensity complaint with clear willingness to pay and a specific, reachable audience.

The market

Power users of drawing/gaming browser extensions (like Gartic Phone) want customizable keybinds but face config friction. No search volume given; demand is niche but the pain (broken custom keybinds out-of-box) suggests frustrated heavy users.

Competition & the opening

Some rivals · 5/10

Browser extensions for gaming (e.g., Discord overlay, stream tools) and gaming keyboards all offer keybind customization, but extension-level keybind managers are sparse. The gap is a dedicated keybind manager extension with reliable custom config and UI.

What's hard to build

Browser sandbox restrictions limit extension ability to intercept and remap keypresses globally; you must work within content script and host messaging limits. Cross-browser compatibility (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and maintaining keybind state across page reloads add complexity. Feasibility rated 8/10 (hard).

Why now

Browser extension fragmentation and poor keybind persistence remains unsolved across major tools.
